Setting
The setting of the story is important because it helps the reader to have a vision in mind of a place in the story, just like the setting in a movie. This book contained several settings because it took place at different times in different places. The beginning setting of this book takes place in England and it introduces the main character. The setting then shifts over to Africa for the remainder of the book. The story takes us to a place where there are more animals than people and where the animals run the place if not secured. The writer lets the reader know that the people who live in Africa have to be aware of all the animals that could be harmful to someone. The reader remembers these ideas while reading the book, that persons living in the wild are always faced with danger. One of the settings which is very interesting is the area where Martine lives on a game reserve and there are lots of animals. A different setting is described when she lives in her grandmother’s house with her grandmother. She goes to school, which shows another different setting. That setting is a pretty good place near Cape Town.
